Going green on ocean blue waters is no longer a futuristic dream. The craftsmen at Edison Marine have designed an electric classic cruiser requiring no gasoline. The fully electric vessel boasts zero emissions from its twin high performance nine-inch DC motors, twin 500 amp controllers and twin propellers. The electric powerboat can reach top speeds of 30 mph, or a full eight-hour day on the water at six mph before requiring a battery recharge. As innovative as the technology may be, the vintage design of the 17-foot cruiser is reminiscent of classic 1930s and 1940s runabouts, with solid a solid African mahogany hull.

Steven Shovoly, President of Edison Marine, explained the importance blending the old world charm of boating with modern technological advancements. “It is clear the trend in all forms of motorized vehicle use is to an engine format that generates less emissions and is more in sync with our environment…Edison Marine is striving to offer a boating experience that will enhance the experience of owning a boat, by not causing any pollution to our waterways. Electric motors are clean and quiet; the only noise will be the sound of the wake.”

In the final stages of development, Edison Marine is accepting orders with an anticipated delivery date sometime this spring.
