New Painting Process for the New Nazenin V
By Christina Bohnstengel

RMK Marine is at it again. This time they have created a new way to paint the hull of a 171.6-foot yacht. Sparkman & Stephens designed the naval architecture of the Nazenin V, with interior design created by Redman Whitely Dixon. But the splash that’s making headlines today is RMK Marine’s new application method for painting the hull of the luxury ketch.
As detailed on BYM, “The staging was completely removed to avoid dust and a custom enclosure was erected with a complete cover shrink wrapped in place. Air was then pumped in from atmosphere via very large, long filters high in the tent and it was then exhausted to atmosphere via equally large filters,” a project manager explained. The paint team from Awlgrip was on sight, overseeing the application by the subcontractors Karma at the Tuzla yard.
Four coats and six hours later, the exquisite finish is as sparkly as a sunbeam dancing on the sea. Next up for the Nazenin V? Mast Stepping, which is scheduled to launch later in 2009.
