Lazzara Utilizes Microsoft Surface
By Sean Ballent

While many companies have cowered in fear when facing the challenging economical climate, Lazzara Yachts has decided to roll up its sleeves. It didn’t take much to convince the Lazzara team to become the first boat builder to employ Microsoft Surface technology.
Developed in conjunction with Infusion Development, a Microsoft partner, Microsoft Surface is a 30-inch, interactive tabletop display that allows either one person or multiple people at once to use their hands to select images and documents the way they would with a computer mouse or keyboard.
Lazzara plans on having a Microsoft Surface display in its showroom, allowing visitors to explore the various megayacht models in an hands-on and interactive way. If a visitor would like to know what the rooms look like with different woods, they would simply place a sample of the wood on the display on watch as the Surface adapts.
As great as the Surface display is, Lazzara will include the tabletop on all of its yachts starting this fall, when the new 76 Motor Cruiser will debut. This will greatly improve the ownership experience, the guest experience, and even the crew’s experience dramatically. Of the many functions, the display can be used as a media center for cruising photos and videos, a center for the owner’s manuals and tutorial videos on maintenance items. It can also be used as a destination guide, as passengers can research local restaurants as they arrive at port. Lets hope other companies start understanding the importance of encompassing technology and forge ahead like Lazzara.
