Silverstein Upgrades his Megayacht

The Daily News reported that Larry Silverstein has collected some $21 million from the City of New York since for his work developing the Freedom Tower. Problem: he is no longer involved in the development in any facet. Just one day later, Wall Street Journal runs an article detailing Silverstein’s plans to trade in his current megayacht, replacing it with a 174-foot twin-diesel-engine-powered boat by Delta Marine. The article says that it isn’t clear what he is paying, but industry observers point to similar-size vessels that cost in the $30 million to $40 million range. Good thing that the taxpayer’s money is being put to good use!
