Microsoft’s co-founder Paul G. Allen’s 301-foot luxury yacht, Tatoosh, was seen docked on the Mississippi River in New Orleans where Mr. Allen is visiting the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. The 1-year old vessel that reportedly cost $100 million is larger than all but a few dozen super yachts. While Allen does not allow reporters on board, one could assume from the outside that this yacht is in a class of its own with two helicopter landing pads. It is also reported that the yacht has its own theater, lobster tank, swimming pools, Jet Skis, and smaller boats. If you’re wondering about the name “Tatoosh,” it comes from a legendary thunderbird that has feathers as long as a canoe paddle. When Mr. Allen needs an alternate form of transportation, he just hops on the Octopus, the worlds largest privately owned yacht, which is more than a third larger than Tatoosh.
