Abramovich’s Eclipse Megayacht

The world’s biggest and safest yacht ever built in the history of mankind has made a preliminary launch, after two years of secrecy at the Blohm & Voss shipyard in Hamburg, Germany. The 170-meter Eclipse is owned by Russian oligarch, Roman Abramovich, who lost more than half of his fortune this past year, dropping to #51 on Forbes World’s Billionaires 2009 list.
Understatedly, this over-sized toy contains several Havana-style bars surrounding its pool, a movie theater and library for the artsy guests aboard, and a private garden for a quiet dose of greenery while at sea. Twenty water jets are aboard for those who like to get wet, and two heli-pads are available for an airborne getaway. Sleep soundly in the 5,000-square-foot master suite, knowing your ship hosts a private submarine boarding from the bottom of the nine deck megayacht for a secret escape, in case pirates evade the missile-detection system and block the alternative five exits on ship. Seriously.

Clearly the Russian mogul’s lifestyle hasn’t felt the loss of his wealth, due to his large stake in Russia’s second biggest steel company, Evraz whose performance fell deeply in 2008, with the anticipation of his $350 million mega yacht finalized for delivery in 2010.
