While you won’t be sailing into it for another two to three years, Italian contractor Ingemar has won a bid to construct a megayacht marina in the Upper Adriatic Sea. In an amazing 60 days, the firm plans to install piers, floating breakwaters, and pontoons for what some are calling the “Montecarlo of the Upper Adriatic”. Ingemar’s contract calls for 70 yacht berths and 14 moorings on the piers. The final project will feature a total of 650 berths covering 240,000 square miles.

And what would a marina be without a luxurious landing spots for its guests? Complementing Ingemar’s 3.5 million Euro marina will be a grand seaside development complete with drydock, private residences, luxury hotels, cultural centers, shops, sports venues, and even an 18-hole golf course.

Peter Munk, a Canadian businessman who founded the largest gold company in the world, has invested largely into the 200 million Euro project that President Ingemar Lorenzo Isalberti called a result of “…Italian creativity and innovation…”.

The site for this ambitious development is located on the eastern side of the Mediterranean on what used to be a Austro-Hungarian naval base and what is sure to be a well-frequented spot.
