In the midst of a tumultuous economic time in Europe, superyachts have become somewhat of an unnecessary accessory. As a result, plummeting prices have opened opportunities for those interested in sailing the Mediterranean sans-anchor weight price tag.
Sources report that nearly 750 superyachts—twice as many as last year—sit empty at docks. Yacht brokers who haven’t been able to fill these spots are slashing prices, discounting 10-30 percent off regular fees. The slow demand also leaves more opportunity to those whimsically deciding to charter, since most of these yachts are usually booked by now.
Happy sailing.
